Friends with Style: Taryn Manning
Where do I even start with introducing Taryn? Well, you all probably recognize her from her role as Pennsatucky in the new hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black, or from Hustle & Flow, Crossroads, 8 Mile, Sons of Anarchy, Cleveland Abduction, and so much more. You definitely know who this bombshell is! Not only is Taryn a super talented actress, but she's a singer, DJ, and fashion designer! (Check out her new single called "All The Way"). My family and I are definitely fans of Orange is the New Black and we can't wait for season 3 to come out this Friday (June 12th)! Who/what inspired you to do what you do?
Acid Trip or Smash-faced drunk? Can't even compare the two! They are two different worlds and equally talented!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Always remain teachable. There is so much knowledge out there and we don't know it all so I like that one :)
What’s your favorite app?
I would say a tie between Michael Jackson and Kurt Cobain!
Who/what inspired you to do what you do?
My father inspired my creativity. He was a rockstar. His talent was indescribable. Growing up around someone with that level of natural born skill really taught me to dig deep and discover all sides of my creative talents as well. Between his skill sets and my mothers competitive nature; I constantly pushed to be the best at anything to do with the arts.
What up-and-coming band or artist should we all know?
I love this new 17 year old girl called "Soak". I was introduced to her after being a fan of Chvrches for many years. Also, I believe Duke Dumont is going to blow up the dance world. Deep house is really making a comeback!
Where is your favorite place to shop?
I love vintage clothing. I always dip into local vintage stores in all my travels. There isn't one place I like to shop at because my personal style is so eclectic and unique; one store doesn't provide what I need or desire. However; when it comes to my kicks, Supra is the constant. You will always find me in a pair of Supra's even if I am in a dress! Ha!
What’s the last movie you saw?
Pitch Perfect 2! I never saw the first one but now I have to! I love Rebel Wilson and Elizabeth Banks. I was surprised and thrilled when I saw that Banks produced and directed it as well!
Where is your favorite place to eat?
I love Italian food!
Describe your perfect day
The beach, my dog, my family and music. All love. All day. Who needs anything more?

What are you currently working on?
I'm currently working on my own web series that I co-write, produce and direct. I have a music video and single set to release this month as well as Orange is the New Black season 3 premiere. I just got done filming a short called "Happy, Yummy Chicken" which is probably one of the most hilarious projects I have ever been a part of. Lots of good things are happening and I cannot wait to share them all!
