sitting in an english garden, waiting for the sun

I've been SO excited to post about this coat, but LA hasn't exactly been coat weather until now... (sorry east coasters!) I fell in love with this coat the minute I saw it in the Kate Spade window at the Americana mall. I'm not usually one to beg for clothes, but I was basically on my hands and knees for this coat. Needless to say, I was pretty excited when I found this underneath the Christmas tree (my mom knows what's up). I know these tights are a repeat, but I just think they go great with so many different outfits. I actually might have to get a second pair because I'm already ripping holes through them. Last but not least, you can never go wrong with a good pair of Jeffrey Campbells!

Before school starts back up again, my friends and I decided to hit up the Amoeba sidewalk sale yesterday. I ended up buying myself Joan Jett's "I Love Rock n Roll" vinyl (no surprise there). Afterwards we head out to Melrose and split a brownie sundae at Johnny Rockets. Guilty, but totally worth it...

This outfit started with me really wanting to wear that lock necklace I got for Christmas. A few outfit changes later, and after my closet had been turned completely upside down, I came up with this.

Metallic creepers, Pink bow

So I don't mean to brag, but it was dress weather today in LA... ANYWAYS! I always like mixing punk and girly things, hence how the pink metallic creepers and bow combination came to be. I was at first hesitant to buy these creepers, because I had no idea what I would pair them with. But my boyfriend bought these for me (round of applause for Keelan!) and I've actually worn them more times than I can count. I think the key is not to overplay the whole punk look, so I decided to pair them with a polka dot dress, bow, and my new favorite ray-ban club masters!

If you wear creepers, how do you do it? I feel like it's sometimes a challenge for a lot of people.

New York Dolls Dress, Leopard Coat

Criss-Cross Tights, Moto Boots

Do you ever have one of those days when you feel like you have absolutely nothing to wear? (even though I can hardly close my closet drawers, this happens to me every other day) Well as usual, I had one of those days. But I started to think about what helps me get out of this rut and I figured out that it helps to find one statement piece or just something new I want to wear and start from there. Once I find that piece, I can usually throw together an outfit around it. For me this was my new New York Dolls dress. After shuffling through my closet for quiet some time I decided to pair it with criss-cross tights, my every day glitter moto boots, and a giant leopard coat. Not sure how the leopard coat came last, but it did, and somehow I ended up pretty satisfied with this look.

t'was a very bowie christmas

I've had this idea for a post for a while now, but what better day to post than David Bowie's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOWIE!

Without a doubt Bowie is a style icon for many, so I'm not complaining that most of my presents this year seemed to run with the Bowie theme.

David Bowie Is

This book David Bowie Is is totally awesome (not to mention it looks so cool in my bedroom). The book includes pictures of Bowie's best outfits, along with handwritten lyrics to his hit songs. If you ever need a little inspiration, this book is the perfect tool. I could flip through this book for hours.

Topshop Blazer

Is it just me or does this remind anyone else of Russell Brand's blazer in Get Him to the Greek? #strokethefurrywall . I've been wanting a fitted silver blazer for a while now, and of course my mom found the perfect one from Topshop.
