And if a silver metallic jacket wasn't enough, here's a silver metallic jumpsuit. I wore this jumpsuit for my David Bowie halloween costume this year, but I think it's going to be my new stage outfit. Why am I wearing a stage outfit? Well, to show off this awesome guitar. This guitar is called the "Wilshire Phant-o-matic" by Epiphone and it totally reminds me of something Joan Jett would use. I've been jonesing for a white guitar for a while and this one is super lightweight and has a small neck (helpful for me because I have the world's smallest hands). Thanks Gibson 90210 showroom for hooking me up and letting me visit your rad showroom!! The jumpsuit is something I ordered online and then cut off one sleeve to make even more David Bowie esque.

I may or may not have suffered through wearing a jacket in 100 degree weather just so I could post about this new silver metallic leather jacket I got for my birthday. I guess I could've waited to post about it during more suitable weather, but I'll suffer for fashion. I paired the jacket with a pair of star studded boots, shorts, and a New York Dolls tee to complete the glam vibe I was going for. My inspiration for this outfit was a photo of Lita Ford I found on pinterest. Lita wears short shorts paired with some silver metallic boots. Like I said, this outfit was inspired by, which doesn't mean you have to copy every piece she's wearing, but you can pick elements you like from the outfit and create your own look. In this case, I was inspired by her silver metallic palette and combo of shorts and boots.

On another note, have you heard of this new band called The Struts? I'm definitely digging their glam rock vibes. The singer is a combination of every great rockstar from the 70's. It's been a while since a traditional outfit post, but why stick to the traditional anyway? This photo set is from a photo shoot I did last month inspired by none other than Saint Laurent! I love Saint Laurent for their 70's rocker style. From wide rimmed hats to glitter boots, I'm a fan. Now unfortunately for all of us, Saint Laurent isn't in everyone's price range; however, there's ways to achieve the look without breaking your bank. Remember good ole glam rock? That's all you need to know: glitter,(p)leather, boots and blazers!

Okay, none of this is actually vintage, except maybe my dad's 1964 Mustang in the background. That being said, there's a way to do a vintage look without being so literal about it. I've been noticing lately that flares and 70's are in. I'm not one to usually jump on the trends band wagon, but I do love the 70's. This outfit is 70's inspired, but with a modern twist. In Paramore world, this t-shirt is vintage (it's a tour t-shirt from 2007), but they're still a current band. Similarly, the jeans I'm wearing are from my mom's revival of the 70's brand Dittos. One thing to note about wearing super wide flares, you need some high shoes to prevent your pant legs from dragging on the ground. Well, at least this is true for me because I'm not all that tall. Jeffrey Campbells have some good platforms that could give you some height under any wide flares.

Here's another all black outfit... Just kidding, this time I wore leopard boots ;) I promise I'm not feeling down, but ever since I dyed my hair I think it just feels good to be back in black. Today I decided to wear this awesome criss cross leotard I got from Pretty Attitude. Did I say leotard? I meant swimsuit! My mom is the one who taught me that leotards/swimsuits double as great shirts. Plus, as the namesake of Frankie B. jeans, I can't tell you how many times I've heard "crack kills" and it's kind of nice to feel covered in a leotard. As for the rest of the outfit, I paired the leotard with a pleather pencil skirt, leopard booties and my go-to leather jacket.

The shoe strike has been lifted! Oh, and hi again! I had a pretty successful Christmas/Hanukkah, as I scored these Saint Laurent glitter booties. I'm really not much of a designer snob, but Saint Laurent is always my weakness. Saint Laurent's collections are so glam rock lately and my shoes fall right into that category! Can't you just see Ziggy Stardust rocking these? (happy birthday David Bowie!) As for the rest of the outfit, I decided to keep the shoes as the focal point by wearing all black. I know a lot of people might feel like they can't pull of pink glitter boots, but I think the key to any statement piece is to keep the rest of the outfit simple. Lately, I've been reading a collection of Edgar Allen Poe poems which kind of inspired this black coat/cloak thing I've got going on. The coat also reminds me of something Marc Bolan might wear.

A Bowie Halloween

Halloween is just 3 days away!! I'm so excited, Halloween is my favorite holiday. I'm one of those people who plans 6 months ahead what I'm going to be for Halloween. Nevertheless, I always end up picking costumes that aren't sold at a costume store. I usually have to put them together myself or have my mom make them. In the past some of my Halloween costumes have been Joan Jett, Honey Boo Boo, a Glam Rocker and Little Miss Sunshine. For this costume, I actually already had all of the pieces sitting in my closet, including the wig! The silver jumpsuit I purchased off Amazon last year for a disco party, the silver glitter boots are one of my favorites in my closet, and the wig was a blonde wig my mom used for her halloween costume a couple years ago that I just spray painted orange.

This post is dedicated to RECYCLING! I'm not much of a thrift shopper, but when I do Wasteland is my favorite place to go. I'm just not very patient and have a hard time sifting through clothes for hours, but I can always count on Wasteland to have a good selection (plus it's not overwhelming). Recently I found out about this awesome jewelry line called Urban Lace who make their jewelry out of recycled bicycle inner tubes! I was immediately drawn to their Siren bracelet, because I thought it was kind of punk and looked like fish net tights. After getting this bracelet, I was inspired to put together a recycled look. This outfit head-to-toe (with the exception of the jewelry) is entirely thrifted from Wasteland. I also got this really awesome motorcycle ring from Frisk Jewelry (not recycled) but wanted to show that off because it's pretty rad too!!
