What do skulls, studs, and hello kitty all have in common? I don't know, but I like it. On Friday I went to the Hello Kitty Exhibition at the Japanese American Museum and I loved it (hence the hello kitty temp tattoo). I've always kind of been a bit of a contradiction. Most of my closet is black matter, but I also have a hello kitty fetish. I don't know, I mean hello kitty can be punk right?

This outfit has been my go-to outfit lately. I'm a big fan of wearing leotards as tops (especially when they snap at the bottom so it's not a whole ordeal to go to the bathroom). I'm also in awe of my new mini Zara purse. It's so cute and small, yet it still fits my phone (granted I don't have the 6 plus). What's your go-to outfit?

These past few weeks have been CRRRAAZY!!! Not only did I score a job at one of my favorite stores, Topshop, but it was also my birthday! First of all, thank you so much to all my friends and family for making my birthday so special. I had a great day and I really felt the love from everyone. Secondly, I did a photo shoot yesterday with my boyfriend Keelan as the photographer and his sister/my friend Summer as the makeup and hair stylist! Summer recently graduated from the Paul Mitchell school and she is awesome (I mean look at that smokey eye, I could never do that!) ALSO, how could I forget to give a shout out to my mom for my out of this world birthday present... my new Saint Laurent leopard booties.

For this outfit I decided to channel my motorcycle/rock n' roll heritage. My dad is an avid motorcycle rider as well as a huge Stones fan, so you can say even my dad has some influence on my style... I guess not many other people can say that! A couple weeks ago I raided Forever 21 and picked up a few cool crop tops (2 of them being Stones tops). Whenever I go into a big store like Forever 21, I have to go in with an objective. This time I wanted to find summery tops (because even though it's spring it feels like summer here in la). By narrowing down my shopping criteria, I was able to find tons of cute tops for cheap!!

I guess you could say Forever 21 is my guilty pleasure... BUT has anyone else noticed how many cool band shirts they have!? I think I bought all my favorite KISS shirts from Forever 21.

As always, my biggest style inspiration is 70's glam rock. So running with that theme, all of these photos were shot in my dad's home recording studio. I love anything glitter or metallic, in other words, anything Marc Bolan or David Bowie would wear is fair game. For this outfit I tried to play up the rocker vibe without being too literal about it (as you see i'm not wearing a David Bowie band tee with this). I love these coated high-waisted jeans because they look like leather, but surprise they're not!

This isn't exactly a summer outfit (not even a little bit) but this is definitely something I would wear out to a concert, my own concert, or just a night out.

Ever get completely stuck on what to wear? Sometimes one of the most helpful things for me to do is put on a record and get inspired. For the past couple of years I have been really inspired by the whole 70's glam rock look. In other words, I pretty much love anything gold or silver metallic. Recently, I bought a T.Rex "Electric Warrior" vinyl, and that has been my go-to album to listen to when I'm looking for a little outfit inspiration. You'd be surprised, sometimes I listen to one of my Strokes vinyls and end up looking like Julian Casablancas for the day. If you're like me and think music and fashion go hand and hand, this could be a really useful technique to help you get inspired.

Another sunny day in LA! The perfect time to pull out your favorite shorts and go out and about. Today I went to Downtown LA to check out some of the trade shows in the design spaces (It was SO hard not buying anything.) I decided to wear my new cut-out Frankie B. shorts with a band tee and Jeffrey Campbell booties as an easy sunny day outfit. Band tee's are my usual go-to item especially when I can't decide what to wear with shorts. NOTE: wear a band tee that you can name at least 3 songs from the bands! I chose one of my favorite bands The Black Keys (I've seen them live 3 times and they are great!) These Jeffrey Campbells were featured in one of my old posts, but they really can go with so many different outfits. I've also just been on a white shoe kick lately.

Crimson and Clover

This post is dedicated to one of my biggest style/musical influences (can you guess?) none other than JOAN JETT! I recently bought Joan Jett's "I Love Rock n' Roll" on vinyl and every time I look at it I get the urge to put on my pink blazer and a neck tie to attempt to look half as cool as Joan Jett. (If you don't know the photo I'm referencing, click here!) These photos were taken outside of one of my favorite record stores in LA called Freakbeat Records.

Although 80% of my closet consists of black matter, I do love a little pop of color (especially pink!). My mom also just made these awesome neck ties in a few different colors, and I'm kind of thinking of wearing them everyday.

One of my favorite scores from Wasteland was this Suzi Quatro concert tee. Suzi Quatro was a huge influence of Joan Jett, so naturally I love Suzi Quatro too. (Who's Suzi Quatro? click here... now do you want to be her? yeah me too.)

Last but not least, my Chloé boots. As you can imagine these are my prized possessions. I wear them probably way more than I should, but how can I help it? I begged for these for years and when I finally got them, I cried.

I've been SO excited to post about this coat, but LA hasn't exactly been coat weather until now... (sorry east coasters!) I fell in love with this coat the minute I saw it in the Kate Spade window at the Americana mall. I'm not usually one to beg for clothes, but I was basically on my hands and knees for this coat. Needless to say, I was pretty excited when I found this underneath the Christmas tree (my mom knows what's up). I know these tights are a repeat, but I just think they go great with so many different outfits. I actually might have to get a second pair because I'm already ripping holes through them. Last but not least, you can never go wrong with a good pair of Jeffrey Campbells!
